Streusel-Topped Pear Pie (October 13, 2010)

Ingredients

Filling
4 1/2 Cups Pears
1/2 Cup Sugar
1/4 Cup Flour
2 Tbsp. Lemon Juice
1/4 tsp. Salt

Topping
1 Cup Flour
1/2 tsp. Salt
1/2 Cup Unsalted Butter
1/2 Cup Light Brown Sugar
1 tsp. Cinnamon
1/4 tsp. Nutmeg
1/4 tsp. Cloves
1/4 Cup Butter
2 Oz.Cheddar Cheese

Directions

Preheat oven to 375. Toss pears with filling ingredients and spoon into unbaked pie shell. For the topping, combine flour, salt, butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. Cut in butter and cheese until crumbly. Spread topping over filling and bake uncovered 30 to 40 minutes. Then cover with foil and bake 10 to 20 minutes longer.
