Police in Jessamine County are searching for a suspect after a home invasion robbery attempt early Wednesday morning.
The incident happened at about 1:30 a.m. at a home on Henry Court in Nicholasville. Police say the suspect, who was dressed in all black clothing with a ski mask and goggles, broke into the home and demanded money from a Joseph Barnes and his fiancee, Linsey Tudor. while threatening Tudor. The suspect then began a struggle with Barnes as Tudor ran out of the house for help.
During the struggle, Barnes was hit several times with a baseball bat or similar instrument. The suspect then chased Barnes outside and struggled with him briefly before fleeing on foot towards a nearby apartment complex without taking anything from the home.
Police searched the area, but did not find any sign of the suspect.
Police say Barnes' eight-year-old daughter, who was in the home at the time, slept until the incident was almost over, and was not hurt.
Barnes was taken to Saint Joseph's Hospital, where he was treated and released.
