The Tates Creek High School girls' soccer team remained undefeated with a victory over a city rival Wednesday night.
The third ranked Commodores (10-0-3) topped the No. 16 Henry Clay (4-3-3) 3-1.
It didn't take long for Tates Creek to get on the board. Aaron Lankster scored just 4:49 into the match, and the Commodores took a 1-0 lead into the locker room at the half.
Henry Clay evened things up 1-1 early in the second.
A pair of goals within a six minute span put the game away for the Creekers. Jordan Chlebowy scored at the 24:19 mark, and Destinie Graves netted an insurance goal off an assist by Elaine Simpson at 30:41.
The Tates Creek defense held Henry Clay to just seven shots, with only one on net. Goalkeeper Arly Lankster got the win.
The Commodores finished the night with 16 shots, seven on goal.
Woodford County Gets Tourney Win
Two goals by Shanda Painter lifted No. 15 Woodford over Highlands 3-1 in the second round of the Lexington Catholic Cup. Jodi Dejohn scored the other Yellow Jacket goal. Halle Graham finished the night with a pair of assists. Stella Adams was the winning goalkeeper. The victory improved Woodford to 4-2-2 on the season.
In Wednesday's other Lexington Catholic Cup game, No. 9 Elizabethtown shut out No. 4 Sacred Heart 2-0. E-town and Woodford County will square off Saturday at 3 p.m.
