A Trimble County man was arrested Wednesday morning after police say they led him on a high-speed chase through two states.
Police in Switzerland County, Indiana attempted to stop Derek Snell, 19, of Bedford, KY, after observing him driving recklessly. Officers say Snell failed to stop, and the deputies pursued the vehicle to the state line.
The deputies ended their pursuit at the Markland Dam and troopers with Kentucky State Police observed the vehicle at mile marker 55 of I-71 North. Troopers attempted to stop the vehicle, but say Snell again fled.
Troopers attempted to use spike strips to stop the vehicle, but police say Snell swerved toward the Trooper, and he was unable to deploy the spikes. The pursuit continued into Boone County before Snell's vehicle struck two other vehicles at mile marker 182. There were no injuries in the collision.
Snell was arrested and charged with Attempted Murder of a Police Officer, Theft of an Automobile, Fleeing and Evading, Wanton Endangerment, DUI 1st, Speeding, Reckless Driving, No Insurance, No Operator's License, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Snell is being held in the Carroll County Detention Center.
