A Hopkinsville teen continues to recover at UK Hospital after a crash that killed two of his Christian County High School classmates over the weekend.
Josh Harbold, 16, was riding in a pickup truck with three friends when it slammed into the back of a parked semi along the Bluegrass Parkway in Anderson County Friday. Dequavius Weaver, 16, and Jacob Blankenship, 17, were both killed.
Dendrick Holmes was driving the truck as the teens headed home after the Sweet 16 Tournament. He and Harbold were taken to the UK Hospital. Holmes was released over the weekend.
Harbold says his love for basketball and the Cats NCAA run are helping him stay motivated during his recovery.
"The team has always been really the biggest go-getters and they play hard every game," he said in a phone interview with LEX 18.
Harbold also offered some advice.
"Live every moment to its fullest and never ever take anything for granted."
The crash remains under investigation. Police say they don't think drugs or alcohol were a factor, and witnesses say the driver of the pickup was not swerving or driving recklessly before the accident.
