A quick-thinking Lexington teenager used his martial arts skills to take down a robber and hold him until police arrived.

The incident happened Monday at an apartment complex on Marietta Drive. Casey Chee, 18, said it started when he heard a scuffle at the apartment across from his girlfriend's. Police confirm two men tried to rob a man there, threatening him with a knife, a gun, even a screw. The guy that tried to rob him got off a shot, and the guy that lived there ducked and luckily he didn't get hit.

That's when Chee jumped in and, with his girlfriend's father, wrestled the suspect to the ground until police got there. The other one ran away, but only got about a block before officers caught up with him at a house on Anniston Drive.

Chee said he wasn't scared, just determined when he went after one of the would-be robbers. "I locked his legs, he couldn't get up," said Chee. "I (wasn't) letting (him) up for nothing. Sorry 'bout it, but do the crime, do the time."

"Thank God no one got hurt," said Chee. "That's all I'm thankful for."

The tenant is thankful for the teenager's willingness to step in and save the day.

Police have not released the names of the two suspects because at least one is a juvenile. They'll likely face a robbery charge.
