The teen charged in a foiled plot to kill a couple in Pulaski County has pleaded not guilty.

Police say Paul Young broke into Edwin and Laura Phelps' bedroom Tuesday night. Edwin fought back, and was able to put Young in a headlock while his wife called police.

Police say Young was hired by the Phelps' 17-year-old son. Edwin Phelps was taken to UK Hospital for stab wounds, but was released Thursday. His wife was not hurt.

Young faces two counts of criminal attempt to commit murder.

Police say they aren't sure if the Phelps' son will be charged as an adult.
