UK basketball Coach John Calipari confirms Terrence Jones was also a passenger in an SUV when it was hit by a drunk driver along East High Street Friday morning.
Police say Stacey Poole was a passengers in an SUV driven by Larry Warren. As the SUV approached Euclid Avenue around 2:30 a.m., a car swerved into the wrong lane. Warren tried, but failed, to avoid the oncoming car, which slammed into the SUV just in front of the passenger side door, pushing it into a parked Toyota Camry.
EMS took Poole and Warren to the hospital. Police described their injuries as minor.
According to a post on CoachCal.com, Jones left the scene of the accident, fearing an altercation with the driver. He was later questioned by police. After questioning, Jones went to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Police arrested Scott. M. Roseberry, 22, and charged him with DUI and an insurance violation, according to the Fayette County Detention Center website.
Coach Calipari says the team will have a curfew in the future.
"Our players did not break any rules by being out last night. As of yesterday, this team did not have a curfew and our normal procedure is to begin the season without one," Calipari said. "I usually let the actions of my team determine a curfew. However, because of the actions of a select few, this team has showed me an inability to make proper judgment and decisions that they've been given the freedom to make. Therefore, going forward, this team will now have a curfew for the rest of the season. I will inform the team of a time later today."
