It's finally time. Mississippi State transfer Twany Beckham is eligible to play in Kentucky's next game, Saturday night against Chattanooga.

Beckham's last high school game was in Rupp Arena in the Sweet 16. The Louisville native led his Ballard team there twice. Now his next college game will be at Rupp.

"This is my dream come true and I just can't wait just to get on the floor with my teammates and play hard as I can," Beckham told LEX 18 Sports on media day back in October.

His road to Kentucky has been a long and winding one, not one that he ever expected. He started for Ballard from 2004-07 and went to two Sweet 16's. Then Twany went to prep school for a year, then on to Mississippi State. He played in 32 games his first year in Starkville, but redshirted last season after having surgery on both hips to remove bone spurs. He's the oldest guy on the team and has waited the longest for this opportunity.

"I always wanted to come here and I believe that everything happens for a reason. So I took a different route, but at the end of the day I'm here."

As a 6-5 point guard, Beckham provides instant size at the guard position, and could relieve Marquis Teague at times so Doron Lamb doesn't have to move over to the point. It's unclear how he will fit in and earn minutes on this team, but Beckham believes he's proven himself in practice.

"I'm a whole lot better. Since I've been here I've been working on my jump shot, and I got a whole lot stronger and faster. Playing with these guards I'm playing against everyday in Marquis (Teague) and Ryan (Harrow), playing against them everyday I can do nothing but get better," said Beckham.

It's finally his time. He's playing where he's always wanted to play. If you ask Twany, there's almost nothing more he could want.

"When you're on the outside looking in, you can only imagine what goes on at UK. But when you're here and you're a part of it, it's something special."
