Lexington police took three teens into custody after a home invasion and short standoff early Friday morning.
Police say two elderly sisters called 911 when somebody started beating on the front door of their Kingston Drive home just after midnight. Moments later, three teens broke down the back door. The two women say they ran out when one of the teens aimed a gun at them. As the sisters ran out of the home, officers arrived.
The three suspects stayed inside the house and police surrounded it. The trio came out peacefully about five minutes later.
Mike Meighan says he has no idea why anybody would target his neighbors.
"Those ladies have nothing. It's a very small house, and they've lived there for years and years. They have very little family, very little possessions. I've been in the house very many times. They're great people, wonderful ladies. There'd be no reason for that."
Police say one of the teens got sick during questioning at the police station about an hour later. He was taken away by ambulance. Officials did not release any information about his condition.
Charges against the three teens are pending.
