Here are some of the top performances in last week's high school football regional championship games.
Highland's quarterback Patrick Towles completed 11 passes for 242 yards and a touchdown, and ran for 106 yards and three more scores, as the Bluebirds easily handled Covington Catholic 49-14.
Garrard County's 1-2 running back punch propelled it to a 48-16 victory over Powell County. Cory Wilson carried the ball 30 times for 188 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Markell Hayes rushed 15 times for 115 yards and three TDs.
Covington Holy Cross quarterback Kyle Fischer had a hand in every score for his team. The junior completed 23-of-36 passes for 303 yards and two touchdowns in the Indians 24-21 win over Newport Central Catholic. He also ran in a touchdown, finishing the night with 83 rushing yards. Fischer kicked a field goal to boot.
Lexington Catholic quarterback Kyle Bolin threw for 158 yards and a touchdown in a 10-7 win over Boyle County. Adam Bush caught six Bolin passes for 103 yards, and he snagged the TD throw.
Mayfield running back Jonathon Jackson ran for 179 yards and two touchdowns in a 44-0 win over Louisville Holy Cross, and quarterback Jake Guhy completed 12-of-18 pass attempts for 188 yards and a pair of scores.
Anthony Wales rushed for 135 yards and found the end zone three times, as Central knocked off Bell County 26-0.
Pikeville's Chase Hall ran for 174 yards and one touchdown, helping the Panthers to a 20-18 win over Fairview.
A pair of Franklin-Simpson running backs eclipsed the century mark, lifting the Wildcats to a 20-7 victory over Lone Oak. Darius Wickware carried the ball 28 times for 153 yards and a touchdown. Jerrell Wickware finished with 18 carries for 142 yards and two TDs.
Lone Oak's sophomore quarterback Cole Ousley completed 23 passes for 208 yards and a touchdown in a losing effort. The Franklin-Simpson D picked him off twice.
Beechwood quarterback Max Nussbaum ran for 218 yards and a touchdown in a 51-19 drubbing of Frankfort. Running back Cameron Vocke found the end zone 4 times and finished the game with 113 yards.
Trinity running back Daylyn Dawkins rolled up 226 yards on 24 carries in a 42-6 win over St. Xavier. He scored two touchdowns.
Southwestern's Dustin Powell ran for 151 yards and a touchdown in a 28-21 win over Harlan County. Warrior quarterback Zack Turpin threw for 187 yards and two TDs.
