Police shut down southbound lanes of I-71 in Oldham County early Thursday morning when a semi caught fire. Witnesses say the blaze created a thick black smoke.
WAVE 3 reports dispatchers say the truck was carrying adhesive that creates a breathing hazard when burning.
Officials did not order any evacuations.
At one point traffic backed up at least five miles.
Investigators were still on the scene at 8 a.m., trying to determine the cause of the blaze. Traffic was moving smoothly, but slowly through the area.
