Thursday morning begins day two of the True Blue camp out in front of Memorial Coliseum.
Scores of University of Kentucky basketball fans set up tents, barbecues and corn hole games Wednesday, as they began the three day wait for Big Blue Madness tickets. Quiet settled over the sprawling makeshift tent city during the predawn hours Thursday, but there was plenty of excitement the night before. Coach Cal and several players showed up to hang with the fans. They delivered pizzas and signed autographs.
"I got goose bumps when he signed my autograph," Ray Thompson said of Coach Cal. "I was just shaking giving him the ball. It was a privilege being there with him. It was just something else."
Former Wildcat big man Josh Harrellson made an appearance and Anthony Davis wowed fans with a thundering dunk.
Officials estimate there are about 400 tents set up.
Big Blue Madness tickets will be free again this year, with a limit of two tickets per person.
You don't have to sit in a tent for three days to score seats at the annual UK basketball kickoff. Fans can also get tickets through UKathletics.com and Ticketmaster.com. A small service fee will be assessed for online orders with a limit of two per household.
Distribution will begin at 7 a.m. Saturday.
Big Blue Madness will be held on Friday, Oct. 14, at Rupp Arena, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
