A Madison County teen and another juvenile have been arrested in a home invasion robbery in which one of the suspects allegedly struck a female resident of the home three times with a gun.

The incident happened at about 6 a.m. Wednesday at a home on Oldham Avenue in Richmond. Officers say the female resident 0reported that she was awakened by her barking dog and got up to investigate. As she was walking down the hallway, she was confronted by a male with a stocking over his head. The male pointed a handgun at the woman and demanded money.

The suspect then took the woman to her bedroom where he struck her in the head with the handgun. When the suspect did not find money right away, he struck the victim in the head again with the handgun. he suspect struck the victim a third time before she directed him to her purse in the kitchen area of the residence. Upon entering the kitchen area, the victim observed another male inside the residence. He exited the residence as the victim and the other suspect entered the kitchen area.

The victim then surrendered her purse to the suspect and he fled the residence. It was subsequently determined that two handguns (Glock 9mm and a Heritage .22 caliber), jewelry and rare coins had been taken from the residence by the suspects.

The victim believed that she recognized a characteristic of the suspect who had struck her with the firearm and provided officers with a name.

(“D.J.”) Cannedy, 18, and a 16-year-old male, The pair were arrested, and officers recovered the two stolen firearms from a bedroom inside the residence where the two suspects were located.
