Two people died and five were hospitalized after a four car accident in Pulaski County Tuesday evening.
The crash happened around 7:30 p.m. Pulaski County Sheriff's Office officials say James Woodall, 70, tried to cross US-27 in order to turn into the access road to Morris and Hislope Funeral Home and crossed into the path of a northbound Jeep driven by Ronda Crawford, 34. Two other cars were involved in a chain reaction. Woodall's Oldsmobile went over an embankment and crashed into a fence.
Firefighters cut Woodall and a passenger in his car, Betty Woodall, 71, out of the Olds. The Pulaski County coroner pronounced them both dead at the scene.
EMS took two other passengers in that car, Ruth Merritt, 70, and Rose Godbey, 74; along with three victims from other vehicles, Helen Poynter, 54, Juanita Dick, 75, and Gary Poynter, 54, to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. There was no word on the extent of their injuries.
The Pulaski County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate the crash.
