Two people were hurt during a fire in a Montgomery County home early Tuesday morning.
The fire broke out just before 1 a.m.in a house along Woodford Drive. All of the residents made it out of the home. Initially firefighters thought everybody was OK, but two people were taken to a local hospital before crews arrived. The fire chief says one of those victims was later airlifted to UK Hospital.
No word on the victims' conditions.
Firefighters say heavy flame was coming from the roof and garage area when crews arrived. The fire was so aggressive, it burned a fire hose in half. Flames caused heavy damage to the home and what the fire didn't destroy, heat and smoke ruined.
"There is a lot of damage to the house. So we're working with the family, making sure they're OK. There's a lot of overhaul because the fire has burned up in the attic of the garage quite a bit," Montgomery County Fire Department Maj. Tony Clayton said.
The family SUV parked in the driveway also caught fire and suddenly started up.
"While they were making the fire attack on the garage, the jeep shorted out, started, and jumped forward on them-- there was some guys in front of it," Clayton said.
Fortunately, nobody was injured by the Jeep.
Firefighters say they have not determined the cause of the blaze.
