Two men were killed in a high speed crash near downtown Lexington overnight.
Police say someone spotted the crash at Woodland Park just after two o'clock Sunday morning. Investigators say a 500 series Mercedes that was likely speeding, crashed head-on into a tree on High Street just past Kentucky Street. The car caught on fire. One man was thrown from the car, and the other was trapped inside. Accident reconstructionists say both men were likely dead on impact.
Autopsies will be done on both men to determine more about what may have caused the crash. At this point investigators say it's unclear if alcohol was a factor.
