The violence in Lexington continued on Wednesday when two people were shot in their apartment. It happened near Richmond Road in the 2,100 Block of Coburn Boulevard at around 4:15 p.m.
As of Wednesday night one person was in critical condition. Police said both a man and a woman had been shot. One person was hit in the abdomen and one person was hit in the leg, then both were taken to the University of Kentucky Hospital.
"It is scary, it is scary. But, I think in today's times we just have to be aware, it could happen anywhere anytime," said Rebecca Kuc, who lives near the apartment.
It's a frightening reality for people in the area. Investigators stayed tight lipped when it came to why this crime happened, and most neighbors said they didn't see or hear much.
"I did not see anybody coming in or out. So whatever happened inside of there, you know, happened really fast. And somebody got out of there in a big hurry," said Bob Barker, who lives across the street.
After the shooting Lexington Police said two men in their teens were seen running to an maroon SUV, that was being driven by a woman. At the same time investigators said possibly a fourth person ran from the scene.
Now as the victims recover, investigators said they are doing all they can to get to the bottom of this crime. On Wednesday more than a dozen officers were on scene, along with detectives and even the canine unit.
Lexington Police said they are using all of their resources to solve not only this case, but all of the recent crimes in the city. It's that determination that neighbors are holding onto.
"I hope justice prevails and I hope the truth comes out," said Kuc.
