As you know, the Fayette County Public Schools were closed Friday, January 25, and Friday, February 1 due to inclement weather conditions. To make up the missed instructional time, the district will use the first two weather make-up days that were built into the 2012-2013 calendar.
Students in the Fayette County Public Schools will now have school on February 8, and May 21, 2013. The original FCPS academic calendar called for students to be off those days, but designated them as "possible weather make-up days." Students and staff are now expected to be in school on February 8 and May 21, 2013.
The change does not affect the last day of school, which is still scheduled to be May 24, 2013.
If needed, other possible weather make-up days built into the school calendar include May 28-31, June 3-7 and June 10-14.
High school graduation dates will not be set until after the threat of bad weather has passed and all make-up days have been set.
Also, all FCPS-sponsored after school, evening and weekend activities at the elementary and middle school level are cancelled. This includes on- and off-campus FCPS activities. All FCPS-sponsored afterschool and evening activities on Feb. 1 at the high school level are cancelled, as are all morning activities on Feb. 2. Conditions will be reassessed on Saturday to make a determination about high school activities with a start time of noon or later.
