With Willie Cauley-Stein in Lexington with his bad knee, UK had no room for error when it came to Nerlens Noel getting in foul trouble. Plus, Auburn fans, normally quiet and full of no shows, were loud and packed the house.
To make matters worse, UK was ice cold coming out of the gate. What helped was, Auburn also couldn't find the bucket.
The Cats missed 11 in a row before Harrow's basket ties the game at six.
It looked like trouble with 8:27 to go in the half when Nerlens picked up his second foul and sat for the rest of the half.
But, Kyle Wiltjer came through. First his 15 footer makes it 12-9 UK. Then Wiltjer makes a great bounce pass to Alex Poythress who jams to make it 16-11. They do it again to make it 18-11.
Wiltjer who led everyone with 9 at the half hits the first three of the game to make it 23-17 UK.
Toss in Kyle's slick layup to make it 25-17, and then he gets an offensive rebound and finds Archie Goodwin for a dunk as UK goes up 30-23.
Cats lead Auburn 30-25 at the half.
UK is 1 for 10 from downtown. Auburn has missed all 11 from long range.
UK is shooting 43%. Auburn 32% at the half.
It took only :13 seconds in the second half for Cal to get upset. Nerlens picks up his third foul on a charge.
But, UK doesn't fold. Ryan Harrow scores 3 UK buckets in a row as the Cats lead 41-33.
Kyle then uses a screen by Alex Poythress to hit a three from the baseline as UK gets their biggest lead of the night at that point, 44-33.
You had the feeling the game was over after Nerlens dunk makes it 55-39.
Jarrod Polson with the shot clock winding down makes a very strong move to the bucket to make it 71-45.
Kentucky wins big on the road 75-53.
Kyle Wiltjer led everyone with 17. He also made some slick passes and finished with 5 assists. There were 5 Cats in double figures.
Alex Poythress had 12 points and 7 rebounds.
Archie Goodwin had 12 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals.
Ryan Harrow had 12 points, 8 assists, 5 turnovers and 5 rebounds.
Nerlens Noel who battled foul trouble was terrific with 10 points, 9 rebounds and 7 blocks.
Jarrod Polson was strong off the bench hitting all three of his shots for 6 points. He grabbed three rebounds and had a blocked shot.
UK outrebounds Auburn 39 to 24.
For the first time since 1997 Auburn doesn't make a shot from downtown. They took 15.
UK out shoots Auburn from the field 55 to 35%.
