UK Athletic Director Mitch Barnhart says Commonwealth Stadium renovations tops his list of priorities for 2011.
Barnhart told the Lexington Herald-Leader that the stadium needs additional club seating, more luxury suites and new scoreboards. Other needs highlighted include the construction of a multi-purpose recruiting room, upgrades to the concession areas and new electronic monitors in the concourses.
Officials estimate the renovations would cost between $150 and $180 million.
Barnhart pinpointed three possible funding sources: bond issues, state money and fund raising specifically for the project. He conceded state money would be hard to come by with the budget issues plaguing the state.
