UK is doing something different in recruiting. Of the ten players who have verbally committed to UK, five are from Florida.

The latest, Khalid Thomas, is a tailback who is also different when it comes to recruiting for UK. He turned down many big time offers.

Georgia Tech, Maryland, Miami-FL, Notre Dame, Ohio State, South Carolina, South Florida and Texas Tech offered scholarships to the 5-foot-9, 180-pounder.

There is a catch. His older brother Kadeem is a freshman linebacker at UK.

"I was open to going to different places," Thomas told Tallahasssee.com. "When I thought about it, Kentucky was what was I looking for in a college. The major. How the city's like. I was thinking about it (Sunday). It just felt like right place for me. I fell in love with the coaching staff and the campus. Plus, my brother is up there."

UK has lacked speed since Derrick Locke graduated. Plus, Thomas, who has a 3.4 GPA, can catch the ball, with 421 yards receiving last year.
