UK got off to another fast start. This time hitting Georgia with shots from all over the court to quickly take a ten point lead.
Julius Randle said last night he couldn't throw it in the hoop. He started the UK run with a shot in the lane. Like Friday night against LSU, James Young struck with a quick three. That was followed up by a Dakari Johnson shot inside, an Andrew Harrison alley-oop to brother Aaron who hit an incredible lay-up as he was fouled. Finally, Young hit another three pointer for a 12-2 lead.
Kentucky hit 6 of its first 7 shots for 85% while Georgia was just shooting 28%.
Georgia would get on the board again only to see Aaron Harrison go through the lane and surprise many with a slam. He followed that up with another three pointer. Seven points of the Wildcats 17 to put UK back in front by 10.
Georgia would make a run to cut it to four at 19-15. But, Aaron Harrison scored six of the Cats next eight points. The other two were free throws by brother Andrew. That pushed UK back in front by ten, 28-18.
Willie Cauley-Stein and James Young picked up early 2nd fouls. And, Alex Poythress got a third. It kept the team and those players from getting into a flow.
Georgia would start to chip away at the lead by getting to the free throw line. The Bulldogs hit eight free throws to cut the lead to 34-30. UK led 36-32 at the half. Aaron Harrison the leading scorer with 16.
