UK Basketball Coach, John Calipari, promised a "tweak" to the team after practices this week that would help the team look better. There's a lot of debate to what it was but in the first half the Cats looked inspired.
Early it was all LSU as the Tigers hit eight of the first ten shots they took. They jumped out to leads of 14-8 and 20-13. This was the adversity that Coach Cal also promised would still hit and the young Wildcats would have to fight through. Did they ever.
Down eight, UK went on a 10-0 run to capture the lead on a couple of Andrew Harrison free throws. But, they weren't finished there. Dakari Johnson also played inspired basketball and the Cats completed a 23-3 run on back-to-back rebounds and putbacks by the Freshman Center.
LSU would cool down to finish the half shooing in the 40 percentile instead of the 80% it started out shooting. James Young had 17 of the Wildcats 42 points as UK led 42-32 at the half.
