UK was trying to correct two things. Coach Calipari wanted to see his Wildcats get off to a faster start and run more to get easy baskets. You would think that would be easy against a Vanderbilt team that has only 7 scholarship players.
But, UK didn't run very much 0 fast break points in the half and they only took a 30-22 lead at the break. So, you wouldn't exactly call that a fast start.
After being tied with Vanderbilt at 4, UK went on an 11-2 run and the bright spot of that was the Wildcats hitting the first 7 Free Throws they shot, including two from Dakari Johnson.
Vanderbilt would cut the lead to 17-14 on a Damion Jones three pointer. Jarrod Polson was big hitting two three pointers, the second of which gave the Cats its biggest lead at 30-20. Aaron Harrison led the way with 8 points, Julius Randle had 6 points and 11 rebounds.
30-22 UK at the break.
