UK Student Says Man Tried To Grab Woman On Campus

A UK student says she witnessed a suspicious incident on campus Tuesday afternoon, sparking a campus alert.

UK freshman Destini Engle said she was on her was to Baldwin Hall when she noticed two older men leaning against a bike rack. She said it didn't strike her as out of the ordinary until one of the men tried to grab a young woman walking by.

"The guy yelled something, the girl screamed, I looked up, she pushed him, then kicked him in the leg," Engle said. "It was a grab. He definitely had intent. That's kind of why it worried me. There was definitely intent. There was definitely something that he wanted from her, whether it was to take her, or take something of hers."

She said all three people took off running, and she found a UK staff member who called 911.

Police say they have not opened a criminal investigation, because they have not heard from the girl who was grabbed.

Engle described the man who grabbed the woman as a white male of average build, 40 to 50-years old. He was approximately 6-feet tall with long gray hair, wearing a black hat, a long green trench coat, and carrying a black shoulder bag.

The second man was also white, of average build, 40 to 50 years of age and approximately 6 feet tall. He was wearing a black jacket and carried a black shoulder bag.
