Several UK students are without a home Saturday after police condemned the house near campus because a body was found inside.
The home sits on State Street, near University of Kentucky Medical Center.
"It's pretty freaky it's just right across the street," says Matthew Yates, a neighbor.
Neighbors say the man who died was in his 30's and lived in the house next door. They also say the man had been hanging out at the house Friday night.
"From everything that was said looks like he pushed his limits," says Braden Pace, another neighbor. "Stuff happens when that goes down."
Investigators launched a death investigation after Noon on Saturday when it was found. But after the body was removed, firefighters say they found fire code violations and they condemned the property, forcing the students to move out.
"The house is in pretty rough shape, hate to see that happen to them," says Pace. "But whatever needs to be done needs to be done I guess."
It's unclear how long the house will be condemned or if the students will ever be able to move back in.
The coroner has not released the name of the man found dead inside the house, but investigators do not suspect foul play is involved.
