Officials in Lee County said late Tuesday afternoon that they have cornered a bear that may be the same bear that attacked a man in the Red River Gorge late last month.

State Fish and Wildlife officials along with police and other officials are along Grand Avenue in Beattyville, where a constable discovered a freshly-made resting place for a bear. The bear was also spotted in the area as well by other witnesses.

The attack caused officials to close parts of the Red River Gorge for several days until reports came in that the bear was spotted in Lee County just before the July 4th holidays.
