Fire damaged a home in Versailles early Thursday morning.
A woman living in the home along High View Drive spotted flames inside the house around 1 a.m. She got out safely, but was not able to find a 12-year-old pet Dachshund. Firefighters quickly got the fire under control, but had to pull back when they discovered a gas leak inside.
Firefighters say most of the damage was contained to the back of the home, and they don't think it was a total loss.
"Well, I guess after the smoke clears we'll get in and look around and see what's what," Carroll Crews, the woman who lives there, said.
The initial search of the home didn't turn up any sign of the dog.
Officials say fire investigators will return later Thursday to try to determine what caused the fire.
