A woman police say was shot several times a week ago by her estranged husband in Campbell County remains in serious condition in a Cincinnati hospital.
Investigators say Alisha Waters' estranged husband, Dennis Mathis, waited for Waters near her Campbell County office building, then chased her into the lobby and opened fire. They say the 31-year-old was shot four times, before Mathis shot and killed himself.
LEX 18 spoke to Waters' brother, Kurt Russell, who says Waters is still on a ventilator and is fighting pneumonia.
"She still doesn't have feeling in either one of her feet or her right arm but as of yesterday she had feeling in her left, the inside of her left arm about two inches down her elbow," said Russell.
Her family is taking comfort in these small strides after such a horrific attack.
"All the doctors keep telling us be prepared because they believe that she will be a quadriplegic but we keep hoping and praying a miracle will happen," said Russell.
The family has set up a fund to help with Waters' recovery. Donations for the "Alisha Mathis Benefit Fund" will be accepted at any Bank of Kentucky.
