John Wall is impressing his new teammates.

"He's going to be a great player," Wizards guard Kirk Hinrich told Associated Press.

"He's definitely got the tools. He's a great athlete, and it seems like he really wants to learn."

That's what the veterans look for. Even though Wall comes to Washington making big bucks and getting a ton of publicity, the former UK superstar has quickly earned the respect of his teammates for his desire to get better and listen to those who understand the NBA game.

Wall might be the youngest player on Washington's roster, but he isn't being shy around the veterans. He's not afraid to lead his team.

"John is a well-spoken rookie," says Wizards center Andray Blatche. "He's aggressive and he let his voice be known,"

Washington wants Wall to lead right away, and that's what he's already doing.

"He's a leader, he's a point guard, and that's what we need."

His new coach, Flip Saunders appreciates Wall's approach to practice.

"John is one of the most serious guys, and he probably knows what we're doing as well as anybody," says Saunders.

"When I spent time with him this summer, maybe the most impressive thing, outside of his athleticism, was his intelligence for the game."

If Wall has a weakness, it's his outside shot. With time you won't be surprised if it becomes one of his many strengths.

Monday, when Wall talked to the media he said it "felt a whole lot better."
