Week 6 High School Football Rankings

There were no changes on top of the most recent Kentucky high school AP poll this week.

Mayfield, Frankfort and Fairview stayed put as the top three teams in the 1A rankings. Willisamsburg moved up to fourth as Hazard fell to seventh after losing its third straight, a 15-7 loss to Breathitt County. Williamsburg ripped Allen Central 54-6. Harlan held on to the tenth spot with a 24-21 victory over Leslie County

Somerset took sole possession of the No. 2 spot behind Owensboro Catholic in the 2A poll with a 20-0 win over Glasgow. Danville sits in third after tying the Briar Jumpers for second in last week's rankings. The Admirals handled Green County 42-26. Lexington Christian slid two spots to seventh after getting pummeled by Frankfort 43-14.

Breathitt County's win over Hazard wasn't enough to lift it passed Louisville Central into the top spot of the 3A poll. The Bobcats stayed locked into second, followed by Bell County, a 21-7 winner over Wayne County. The Cardinals dropped out of the top five, down to seventh. Belfry remained in fourth with its 54-6 drubbing of Sheldon Clark. Bourbon County rolled over Western Hills 66-8 and climbed a spot to sixth. Morgan County won its fifth straight 28-6 over Middlesboro and stayed put at No. 10.

With Covington Catholic dropping a 35-21 decision to Highlands and Lexington Catholic knocking off Mercer County 34-16, the Knights vaulted past the Colonels into No. 2 in the 4A rankings. Russell County County got an easy 59-14 win over Letcher County Central and Knox Central knocked off Harlan County 12-6, and both teams stayed put to round out the top five. Ashland Blazer and Boyle County also held steady at sixth and seventh. Ashland took down Rowan County 48-0, and the Rebels won their second straight, shutting out Taylor County 53-0. Johnson Central earned a 37-6 victory over Boyd County, but dropped from eighth into a tie for ninth with Lone Oak.

The top five remained unchanged in 5A, with Franklin County still sitting in fourth after a 42-21 victory over West Jessamine. Anderson County leaped three spots to seventh on the strength of its 27-8 win over Montgomery County. Harlan County dropped a spot to ninth after its loss to Knox Central.

After taking care of George Rogers Clark 40-6, Scott County held on to No. 3 behind Trinity and St. Xavier in the 6A poll. Bryan Station once again got some votes, but not enough to break into the top 10.
