An accident involving a semi trailer shut down westbound lanes of I-64 in Franklin County Friday morning.

The accident happened between mile marker 50 and 52. Officials have not confirmed whether there were any injuries.

Police have shut down both westbound lanes.

At 5:15 a.m., transportation officials indicated the interstate could remain shut down until 7 a.m. as crews work to clear the scene.
