Police say a wet roadway was like a factor in a single-vehicle crash that injured two people and shut down a Lexington road early Tuesday morning.

Police say the car was heading out of town along Leestown Road around 12:30 a.m. when the driver lost control near the VA Hospital. The vehicle skidded, went across the median and slammed into a utility pole. One man managed to get out of the car on his own, but firefighters had to cut a second victim out of the wreckage.

EMS took both victims to UK Hospital. Officials did not release any information on the extent of their injuries, but did say they were non-life threatening.

KU sent a crew out to repair the pole. Police say they don't expect any traffic impact during the morning commute.
