It's official.
The year 2011 goes into the record book as the rainiest year ever in Lexington.
When rain began falling on the Bluegrass overnight, we lacked just over one-half inch to break the long standing record of 65 3/4 inches set back in 1936.
The record fell before 6 a.m. Tuesday. According to the rain gage at Blue Grass Airport, about six-tenths of an inch had fallen.
November stands as the second wettest November on record and April 2011 now counts as the wettest April of all time in Lexington since officials started keeping records.
