Gusty winds are expected the Bluegrass region through Tuesday evening as a very powerful, if not historic, storm system will push into the mid-Atlantic coast Monday night and then move westward into the northern mid-Atlantic states.
As this storm system pushes west, the pressure gradient across Kentucky and southern Indiana will increase greatly, causing very strong wind and gusts.
The wind advisory remains in effect until 8 p.m. EDT Tuesday.
Sustained winds and wind gusts will increase late Monday afternoon and continue into Tuesday evening. Sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts over 40 mph will be possible, mainly during the daytime hours Tuesday.
The gusty winds will blow around loose objects and leaves and will bring down small tree limbs. Travel may become difficult for high profile vehicles.
A wind advisory means that sustained winds of 30 to 39 mph or wind gusts from 40 to 57 mph are expected.
