The first snow day of the year also brings the first make-up day of the year.
As you know, the Fayette County Public Schools were closed Friday, January 25, 2013, due to inclement weather conditions. To make up the missed instructional time, the district will use the first weather make-up day that was built into the 2012-2013 calendar.
Students in the Fayette County Public Schools will now have school on February 8, 2013. The original FCPS academic calendar called for students to be off that Friday, but designated it as a "possible weather make-up day." Students and staff are now expected to be in school on February 8, 2013.
The change does not affect the last day of school, which is still scheduled to be May 24, 2013.
If needed, other possible weather make-up days built into the school calendar include May 21, May 28-31, June 3-7 and June 10-14.
High school graduation dates will not be set until after the threat of bad weather has passed and all make-up days have been set.
