A woman suffered severe injuries in a one-vehicle accident along New Circle Road early Monday morning.
Police say the driver of an SUV lost control along the inner loop near the Leestown Road exit around midnight. The vehicle went up an embankment and rolled over. Police say a female passenger was ejected and the SUV likely rolled over her. The woman was taken to UK Hospital. Officials called her condition critical.
The diver was also taken to the hospital complaining of shoulder pain about an hour after the crash, according to police.
Investigators say they believe alcohol was a factor in the crash. Police say they obtained a court order to take a blood sample from the driver. Those results are pending.
As police investigated the accident, a car clipped a police cruiser. Nobody was injured, but police arrested Callie Preston, 22, and charged her with DUI and several traffic violations.
