Police continue to investigate after a woman was found dead at her home in Garrard County Tuesday.
Investigators say Angela Salata's sister found her body on the front porch along Ridgecrest Road. Officials say the 47-year-old's body was badly decomposed, and may have been there for as many as three days. Her sister was also the last person to see her alive on Saturday.
Salata has a teen son and daughter who are spending the summer in Chicago with her ex-husband. She was staying in the home alone. Some neighbors say they remember hearing something strange in the area over the weekend.
"Was it Sunday night? I think mom said they heard a lot of noise out here Sunday night. They heard a big-old bunch of noise - they didn't know what was going on. Like a big, loud truck or something. We didn't know what it was," JoAnn Himes said.
Salata's body was sent to Frankfort for autopsy. Officials say the condition of the body made it impossible to gather much information about the death at the scene.
"We'll be looking for the cause of death and to see if there's anything suspicious. We do not know because of the decomposition. We can't tell anything right now," Garrard County Coroner Daryl Hodge said.
