A former Fayette County School Board member and a staunch opponent of Sunday alcohol sales, who was nearly killed by a drunk driver, spoke at the Urban County Council work session Tuesday.
Police say Angie Tedder was driving on a Sunday night last September when a truck driven by 47-year-old Kenneth Carter of Lexington stuck her vehicle. Tedder nearly died in the accident. Carter later died of his injuries.
Tedder told council members that receipts in Carter's truck showed he bought alcohol that day.
"A man is dead and I was severely injured because of your decision. Why you made that decision - you know why you did. It's not because you like alcohol a whole lot, but you like the bucks - the few extra bucks."
Lexington's council approved expanded alcohol sales in 2007. Georgetown followed with similar action a few months later.

It's faulty reasoning to believe Sunday alcohol sales caused this accident. Everyone I know who drinks, simply picked up their Sunday alcohol Saturday night before the ban was lifted. This is a shining example of one individual trying to force her morality onto everyone else. Outside of the religious arguments, there is not one single reason to have a ban on alcohol sales on Sunday as opposed to any other day.

It's faulty reasoning to dismiss "religious arguments" as invalid when our nation, its laws, freedoms, and values were founded on "religious arguments."

Your so right,Sunday alcohol did not cause this accident, alcohol did!I'm sure everyone has been there, buying alcohol on Saturday night for Sunday. But,what about the alcoholic that drinks all of it on Saturday night?Does he not need that rest, and the family,a day of peace,on Sundays?Religious arguments?Yes! Sunday,a day of worship and rest, even for the intoxicated!
