A woman died in a one-vehicle accident in Knott County early Tuesday morning.
Kentucky State Police in Hazard said the accident happened around 12:24 a.m. Tuesday morning on KY Highway 550 in the Mouse community of Knott County.
KSP said a white Chrysler passenger car was traveling east on KY Highway 550, when the driver apparently misjudged a curve and drove off the left shoulder of the roadway where the car came to rest in a creek.
The driver, Brenda Thacker, 54, of Mousie, was pronounced dead at the scene by Knott County Deputy Coroner Donnie Sammons.
Thacker was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision, KSP said, and toxicology results are pending.
The accident remains under investigation by KSP in Hazard.
KSP, along with Knott Count Trans Star Ambulance, Jones Fork Fire Department, Ball Creek Fire and Rescue, and Knott County Rough Terrain Rescue responded to the scene.
