A Lincoln County woman died in a motorcycle accident along I-75 in Whitley County on Sunday afternoon.

According to the Whitley County coroner, Vanessa Cheatham, 41,of Hustonville, was a passenger on the back of a motorcycle operated by her husband James Cheatham. The bike crashed into the back of a car stopped in traffic between mile markers 25 and 26 due to another accident.

Vanessa Cheatham was pronounced dead at the Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin.

James Cheatham was airlifted to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for treatment. Officials did not release any information on his condition.
