One person was killed and another hospitalized after a head-on wreck in Montgomery County Friday morning.

The accident happened around 8 a.m. On U.S. 460 between Mount Sterling and Camargo. Police say a man in a Chevy Lumina was travelling east after he had just dropped a child off at school when he collided with a Nissan driven by a woman. She was killed on impact.

Police say says the man driving the Lumina veered off the road onto the shoulder then went across the center line, hitting the woman in the Nissan head-on, pushing her car into a ditch. Another driver who says he too was nearly hit says she tried to get out of the way but there was no where to go.

The identities of those involved have not been released.
