An Estill County woman severely burned in a fire Saturday morning is fighting for her life at a Tennessee hospital.

The fire broke out at a home on Chestnut Street in Irvine. Family members of the victim tell LEX-18 48-year-old Evelyn Brooks is in a coma after suffering burns on about 40-percent of her body.

They say Brooks' daughter also suffered cuts and burns but escaped through a window and is OK.

The fire department says right now the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
