Would you believe someone if they told you they were abducted by aliens?
On January 6, 1976 in Stanford, Mona Stafford was turning 36. Stafford, along with Louise Smith and Elaine Thomas, planned a simple celebration at what was once the Redwood Restaurant. On the drive home, the ladies say, their lives forever changed when an intense red glow headed toward their car.
Stafford says, the object stopped, and hovered next to the right side of the car. She said it was a blueish white dome.
"Louise was driving. I was in the center. Elaine was on the side," said Stafford. "These lights come up behind us. And I say, 'Oh my goodness, thank goodness. it's the state trooper.' I was never so glad to see the law in my life. But it wasn't."
UFO researchers call this case one of the most fact-rooted abduction cases on record. LEX 18 has found UFO journals that show drawings of what each woman says she experienced during their "abduction".
The "Lincoln County Incident" airs Thursday on LEX 18's Evening Edition at 7 p.m.
