Kentucky Utilities reports hundreds of customers in Woodford County have lost power as the company restored power for thousands of households in the area.
KU said that as they restored electricity for 3,600 customers, a pocket of about 450 customers lost power again as the result of a cold load issue, meaning the system couldn't keep up with all the furnaces coming on at the same time.
KU said they are working to bring that group of 450 back on in stages, making sure a smaller group of customers is restored and holds before they move on to another group, and another group until all 450 are restored.
The first power outage started around 7:40 a.m. for those 3,600 customers in the area running west of US-60 along the Bluegrass Parkway and extending out into the county along Troy Pike, almost to Nonesuch.
KU did not say how long they expected the restoration process to take.
