Officials have identified the man police say drove nearly 8 miles the wrong way along I-64 early Thursday morning.

According to the Franklin County Jail, Danny Hollingsworth, 32, faces numerous charges including DUI, wanton endangerment, improper turn-drive lane-enter limited access highway, possession of an open alcohol container, reckless driving and failure to produce an insurance card.

Police say several motorists called 911 reporting a vehicle heading westbound in the eastbound lanes of the interstate starting around the Midway exit in Woodford County. An eastbound trooper met up with the SUV, turned around and forced the errant driver to a stop.

"He met the vehicle that was going westbound in the eastbound, as he was heading eastbound. The vehicle did not stop for him, so he had to get turned around, get in front of the vehicle to force it to stop by having something in front of it." Sgt. Tim Bradley said.

The trooper put on his brakes, forcing the SUV to a stop with his back bumper.

Hollingsworth is scheduled for an arraignment at 1 p.m. Thursday.
