Springhouse Owner Richard J Weber

After graduating from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture, he earned a Masters Degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. Richard worked for a small, specialty nursery in Connecticut, designing gardens with highly unusual plants before returning home to Kentucky to join the staff of a large Design/Build landscape firm in Lexington. In 1995, Richard and his wife Debbie founded Springhouse Gardens on the site of an old tobacco farm on Historic U.S. 68, just south of Lexington. Springhouse Gardens features 6 ½ rolling acres of beautiful gardens, lovely stone walls, and water gardens. Richard and his talented staff have created a plant lover’s paradise featuring unique and hard to find plants, unusual garden accessories and inspiring displays. A visit to Springhouse Gardens is like a relaxing visit to a private garden. The visitor enjoys a casual shopping experience, nestled into a distinctive and classic Bluegrass setting. Springhouse Gardens also offers a complete landscape design and installation service. Richard’s love of nature combined with his experience and plant knowledge is evident in his creative and site specific designs. A garden designed and installed by Richard Weber and Springhouse Gardens offers all the charm, class and individuality that you would expect to find in the Thoroughbred Capital of the World.
