First Lexington Music Awards Held Sunday

Posted: Updated:
Sunday evening was a big night for music lovers in Lexington.

The First Annual Lexington Music Awards was held at the Historic Lyric Theater. The special ceremony was hosted by LEX18's Bill Meck and Kristen Pflum.

The event's founder says this wasn't only about Lexington's flourishing music scene, but the entire state of Kentucky, and bringing it all together.

"What were trying to do is bring the whole music community together. Not just the musicians patting themselves on the back, but the writers the producers and the venues. But everybody. Get them all in a room together once a year and make them aware of each other," said event founder David McLean.

30 awards were handed out Sunday in a wide range of different categories.Organizers hope it will become an annual tradition that will continue to grow each and every year.
