Whitley County Man Dies During Struggle With Police

Posted: Updated:
A Whitley County man is dead after police officers say he became combative and fought with arresting officers.

On Sunday March 22 around 7:30pm Whitley County 911 received a report of an out of control man in the road trying to flag down traffic.

When officers arrived on scene, police say that Jeffrey L Jackson was behaving strangely and jumped into a car with a young girl. Shortly thereafter, he jumped out on 92 East and was running and jumping onto hoods of cars passing by the scene.

Officials say that Jackson had injuries to his head and was hallucinating.

When KSP and Whitley County deputies attempted to take him into custody, they say Jackson became combative. Once in custody, police say he stopped breathing. Officers attempted CPR until EMS arrived.

Jackson's body was sent to Frankfort for autopsy.
